Daisy — A Love Story

Well the day finally came and in training I was, I only hoped I’d get out in time so as not to miss her trailer. I remember it like it was yesterday, 4:06pm I rolled into the parking lot and there she was, the draw hadn’t taken place, I still had a chance.

Tickets in hand I joined my fellow Zen Riders and waited for the draw, would she come home with me or be lost forever. I was sweating and it wasn’t just because I was in my riding leather in May, I was nervous and the leathers weren’t helping.

It was gonna go down like this, they would draw three tickets and give out three keys to those three ticket holders, but only one key would start her up and that key would of course be in the hand of the lucky winner.

They called the numbers, the first one, not me, the second, not me, the last, also not me, I wasn’t even close… My heart sunk, my shoulders dropped, it was a sad, sad day.

I was asked to see Daisy off, help her onto the trailer and say my good-byes and then she was gone, out of my life as quickly as she’d come into it.

Tie 'er up, one last time . . .
