Journal Entry: Report 3 - Firing (and Partying) On All Cylinders
March 7, 2001

As I’m preparing to type out this day’s journal, at 12:30 am, the boys are eating chips and watching examples of Mumbles' camera work of the day on the big screen. There is also talk about going to see the Coleslaw wrestling matches!

Now the Journal

After a late breakfast (Zen Time), we left Orlando for our 110km trek to Daytona Speedway. Three hours later, we finally arrived, dodging closed highways and traffic jams. We made a detour on the way as Dan The Man’s Virago went into fuel economy mode by running on one cylinder. After quick diagnosis by the team and the purchase of two sparkplugs, we were on our way.

At the Speedway we scanned the show for new products and technological advancements for our aging bikes. We then headed to the Iron Horse Saloon via the Yamaha/Honda/Kawasaki dealer, as Bugsy had the bug to buy something for his V-Star.

At the Iron horse, it was evident that Dan The Man found his inner child as he suddenly became a “Biker”, partying and fitting in with the crowd, while wearing his Zen Riders colours. The burn-out pit, entertainment and the ambience truly provided a “distinct” environment.

Finally, at 10pm, came the ride home -- but, first, Krispy Kreme for our nightly ritual of polishing off a dozen warm original donuts.

Weather today: 63 F and not a cloud in the sky. The ride home saw a temperature of 40 F with a wind chill of 30 F. Tomorrow’s forecast is 71F with a clear sky, so should be a great day, and you can read all about it on Friday.
