As today's weather called for rain in the afternoon, we got an early start. We split up into two groups: Dan, Cowboy Bob and Bugsy went to Corbin seats in Daytona to pick up some items, while Sporty, Mumbles and I headed to Perkins Restaurant for breakfast. Sporty on her Seca, Mumbles on his Venture and my trusty Harley then headed for a ride, that coincidentally ended up at Orlando Harley Davidson just in time for their free barbeque. After some socializing with some misers from Boston, we headed to Daytona (110km) to the Speedway, where I needed to purchase some tie downs for the dreaded trip home on Sunday. Oh, and Mumbles bought a new pair of Harley boots! While at the Speedway trade show, I introduced Mumbles to the www.motoport.com clothing line, where he purchased a Challenger jacket. We then headed to the Beach area to browse through the exhibits and take in the Daytona Harley fireworks display. Next, a cruise through Main street, followed by dinner at a place called Steak and Shake. WARNING: Do not eat there! After our terrible dinner, we satisfied our lingering appetites by crossing the street and going to, where else but, Krispy Kreme. At this time the rains found us, so we donned our rain suits and headed back to Orlando to call it a night. Conveniently, the rain stopped as soon as we started riding. Tomorrow, Saturday, it's off to the Ocean Center in Daytona for the "Rats Hole" motorcycle show, a visit to the Harley Owner Group area, and loitering on Main Street for the day. At the HOG area, I intend to purchase tickets to the Harley Roundup at the Speedway during the Daytona 200 race on Sunday. Total accumulated mileage for my Harley during Bike Week is 1743km and counting. Today's temperature Hi was 74 F, and the Lo was 61 F. BT |
