The Zen Trailers Daytona Journal

Journal Entry: Report 8 - Home Again
March 13, 2001

Well, 1980 km later, we arrived home to the Great White North, entering the 407 in freezing rain. The weather from Daytona up to Erie, PA, could have allowed for a ride home, but the bike remained on the trailer. It was 61 degrees in Pittsburgh!

The Daytona 200 race was great! And the Harley Heaven paddock was at the international horseshoe curve at the race track, so the sightlines were fantastic. We drove through downtown Main Street for one last time Sunday night, and it was just as busy as a Saturday night!

Although I enjoyed my Krispy Kreme donuts, it is now time to get in shape for the long 2001 riding season, so artery crunchers are not on the menu. However, we did stop at a neat restaurant in Erie, PA, called Quaker Steak and Lube. Great food, with motorcycles and cars hanging off the rafters. (www.lubewings.com)

We drove the Ford F150 Supercrew with trailer over weigh scales on the way home and the gross combined weight was 9600 Lbs! No wonder I was getting only 12.1 miles per U.S. gallon.

Anyhow, nice to be back and get to reality.
