Well, that's what I heard little girls are made of! Arrived with baited breath for trail bike riding in Peterborough with a huge clan of Zens. Upon learning of our dress code and riding mannerisms, I was off and riding. Most of you may not know it, but I am deathly afraid of heights. So I had to use my rule of F.E.A.R. (Face Everything And Recover) to make it through. Well, at least until lunch. The routes were hilly, steep and challenging to me. I found myself sweating up a storm when it came to riding down a hill and around a bend. Each time I had to go down a hill, I felt I would run into trouble ahead. The first time, I had to have assistance heading downhill; yes chicken little big time! The second time I came around a bend and yikes! I met up, well almost met up, with other riders stopped. I had to make a "man overboard" type of stop, so I met up with a tree instead. Only one other time did I court the trees, or rather the bushes, but it was all in good fun! After lunch we took a less challenging route - some of us did anyway. I discovered I could stand on the pegs and use them as great stabilizers for bumps, hills and even seeing further uphill and ahead. This ride taught me that I can drop the bike without penalty! Yeah! And that I can go a little more "crazy" in digging into the dirt, muck and such and feel safe. It also made me more aware of looking ahead in the ride. Much to my chagrin, I have yet to have any aches and pains to brag about with the others. One thing I know for sure, is that I'd love to do it again and to also thank BT -- BT, thank you for your gift of this lovely ride. You are sweet. Groovy and Purple Passion were so amazingly strong for they did so well being first timers too. I am so glad there were other women out for the ride. It made it a very rich experience to speak of for a long time to come. Sporty Zen47 |
