It was a cold night, January
27, 2001. After putting out the word all over the world, the Year
End Party the time was at hand.
The selection process of finding a venue was a tedious one: how to please
all and cover everyone's taste? The task was met by Angel and Twuble! The
city was scoured and prices negotiated and Voila — the Second Annual Zen Rider Year End Party was launched!
I, Stickboy, get out of my car and shut the locked door on my keys... I
laugh as
at least I have somewhere to go! Angel and I proceed into the Hava
Nagila club with smiles of anticipation.... What's this...?! We are the
only
ones there (too excited maybe)!
Slowly people begin to seep in through the door and Wow, some of them are
Zen Riders! Ah, the smiling faces; so many bright, happy Zen Riders! What's
this? Smyk is sporting his Zen Rider vest — a true walking billboard of pride!
Now the mingling has started and people are setting the mood and happy faces
are all about: reminiscing, telling stories and creating plans for new
adventures!
Buddy, soon to be called Baldy (stay tuned for B.A.D. Ride), calls all for
attention, as the last few
guests and members take their seats, and assisted by Twuble, begins handing
out awards.
Congrats to Stylz on Member of the Year award! Very well deserved by him!
Congrats also to all the other
recipients of awards. I, myself, received the Lone Rider and the Road Eater awards!
Going to Newfoundland in April during snow and icestorms helped, lol!
With the awards ceremony out of the way, the food started showing up at the
tables....
...MMmmmmmm... OH! Sorry! Mouth is still watering... I certainly did not go
hungry!
To add to the ambiance, the House Band started playing to enjoyment of all!
I seem to recall
some of us busting-a-move on the floor and all having a great time! All the
pretty Ladies
of Zen are real smooth on the floor ! It was great to have some of our
Guests enjoying our
company as well.
The night wound down and Smyk drove Angel home and came back with my spare
key!
When I got through my door at about 1:30am I was still smiling! It was great to
be a part
of such a group of people who still mesh together even with vast differences
of personalities
etc... We are growing and adapting and sharing some experiences along the
way !
All in all, everyone had a great time. Both myself and Angel were very
happy that everyone had
enjoyed themselves and that we all had a chance to get together and enjoy
each other's company.
I just have one thing left to say:
Same time next year?
